Paris is the capital and largest city of France, situated on the River Seine. It is one of the most beautiful cities in the world and is visited by more than eight million tourists every year. The most popular place for tourists is the Eiffel Tower, the famous symbol of Paris. One of the world’s largest art galleries, the Louvre, is also located in Paris. The city is also famous for its restaurants, cafes and theatres. About two-thirds of France’s artists and writers live in Paris.

Teaching procedures:
Step 1: Warming-up
1. Greeting.
2. Watch a video:
Show students a short video clip about France, and ask students to answer some questions:
(1). what cities can you find from this video?
(2). which city do you like best?
(3). what is the last city can you see from the video?
Invite two students to share their answers and lead in the topic- Pairs.
Step 2: Pre-writing
1.Read the passage: Find out the main idea--how to introduce a city.
2.Read again and list the structure and relative words:

(3) Symbols: the famous symbol of
3.Brainstorming:
Ask students do they know the capital city of China, and the information about it. List some of their answers on the blackboard to and give evaluation to the students.
Step 3: While-writing
1. Ask students to write down a draft of Beijing introduction, according to brainstorming.
Please write your own article on your textbook, I will give you 15 minutes. Now it is your time, start.

Ask students to do the peer editing, check the draft each other.

Step5: Summary and Homework

Not long after Freddy and the band became famous, they visited Britain on a brief tour. Fans showed their devotion by waiting for hours to get tickets for their concerts. Freddy was quite confident when he went into a concert hall. He enjoyed as soon as the program was over, the telephone which was in the same room started ringing. Everybody was asking when they could see Freddy and his band again. They were truly stars.

3. Teaching procedures
Step 1 Lead-in
Ask students to discuss how your life would change if you became famous overnight and make a list of the changes.
Step 2 Presentation
(1) Ask students to read the text for the first time to conclude the main idea of it.
(2) Have students read it again and guess the meanings of those words in bold with the help of the context and match the words to their meanings, and then answer the following two questions.
Q1: How did the fans show their love for this band?
Q2: How did Freddy feel when he wore an expensive suit and gave a performance to a TV camera?
(3) Explain the words to check their match and lead them to observe these words' similarities.
(4) Conclude the rule of how to change the verbs into nouns, and introduce some suffixes, such as "-ion, -ance,-ment" that can be used to change the verbs to nouns.
Step 3 Practice
(1) Ask stUdents to find out other verbsor nouns about the rules of word formation and share their answers.
(2) Change the verbs on the screen to nouns with the suffixes.
Step 4 Production
Ask students to discuss what will happen to Freddy's life and exchange their ideas in groups of five. Remind them to use more nouns with the rules. After that, choose several groups to share their ideas with the whole class.
Step 5 Summary and homework
Summary: Ask several students to share what they've learned today.
Homework: Search for other noun suffixes and list some examples.
